Ballasted roof assemblies use loose stone, gravel, or concrete pavers to hold down the underlying waterproof membrane. While the ballast protects against UV and wind uplift, it also hides the one thing you need to see: the condition of the membrane itself. Water infiltration, seam failures, and puncture damage can go undetected for years under tons of stone.

Traditional repair means removing thousands of pounds of ballast, exposing and replacing the damaged membrane, then putting all the ballast back. It is expensive, disruptive, and generates massive waste. Worse, the process often damages the very membrane you are trying to save — equipment, foot traffic, and stone displacement create new vulnerabilities.
